Saturday of the Sixth Week of Easter

(Jn 16: 23b-28)

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.
Until now you have not asked anything in my name;
ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.

“I have told you this in figures of speech.
The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures
but I will tell you clearly about the Father.
On that day you will ask in my name,
and I do not tell you that I will ask the Father for you.
For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me
and have come to believe that I came from God.
I came from the Father and have come into the world.
Now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.”

Before we leave, we usually make promises to those whom we will leave behind. The sadness of separation is lessened by these promises that are meant to show them that they are still loved and will always be remembered. Jesus in His humanity is no different from us. He felt this compulsion to assure those whom He loved in His earthly life that nothing will change even if He will not be with them forever. And He will leave them something precious behind. They will have the capacity to ask the Father in His name and it will be granted. Then He will leave them a clear teaching of who the Father really is. He gives them an unrestricted access to the Father’s heart. And since He is going back to the Father and every time they pray to the Father, Jesus will be there for them.

Lord Jesus, I thank You for having bear my sins. Without God, I can not praise the Lord, be incapable to go home to the Father. Thanks to God’s redemption, I am re-born as a child of God, enjoying all the benefits of being a child. God incarnate as human, made human to be the son of God. My dignity depends on God’s name. I know that in the name of the Lord I have become great before the Father in heaven.

Please let me know to love God in faithfully, teach me to believe in God so that I deserve the Father in heaven to love and accept my plea.
